Abstract
A guide to reading this book:
This work is a culmination of 3 years of exclusive study, unconventional research and application of how Ayurveda understands hridaya and hridroga. For better understanding, the book is divided into 6 sections.
Section 1: Introduces the reader to the legacy of Ayurveda. It deals with an inclusive view of Ayurveda in terms of research and why it is necessary.
Section 2: Understanding key concepts of dosha, dhatu, mala, agni, srotas, avarana, manas after learning how Ayurveda perceives hridaya in general and as a marma. At the same time, a (brief) contemporary view of heart and basic terminologies are discussed.
Section 3: This addresses the present picture of heart diseases andhridroga, the causative factors, the disease expression (lakshana) and propositions on how to decode the Samprapti clinically plus differential diagnosis. The why and how of the involvement of manas is also touched upon.
Section 4: Explains “how” to utilize pareeksha whilst interpreting contemporary investigations in terms of Ayurveda.
Section 5: This touches upon the treatment principles. Be it Panchakarma or medicines, a careful and level headed observation can help utilize cost effective and short-term treatment / medicines.
The section remains incomplete without the mention of pathyaapathyavichara, which are most essential in current scenario.
Section 6: The execution of all the above points is discussed alongside the role of Ayurveda fraternity and their possible contributions to the society. The book ends with a hope of inspiring at least a few dedicated vaidyas to follow their paths of interest which uphold the true strength of Ayurveda.
